Service Description
These three methods of emergency contraception can be used after unprotected sex to stop you from getting pregnant. Some important factors affecting success include: -when in your cycle the unprotected sex took place -the time between the unprotected sex and when you use the method -what other medications you take -your weight The most effective of these options are Ella and IUDs. Plan B can be used up to 72 hours after unprotected sex. It is not very effective when taken at or after ovulation. Ella can be used up to 120 hours after unprotected sex. The Mirena IUD can be inserted up to 5 days after unprotected sex. The Copper IUD can be inserted up to 7days after unprotected sex.
